Day 1 - Sept. 17:
Fly To Germany

Begin your journey with an overnight flight from the United States to Munich, Germany, the gateway to the charming landscapes of Austria and Bavaria. Relax and settle in for the flight, enjoying the included light dinner and breakfast on board. (group flights mentioned above)

Day 2 - Sept. 18:
Dachau & Austrian Alps

Guten Tag, Germany! Upon arrival in Munich, we begin our journey with a meaningful visit to the Dachau Memorial Site, one of the first concentration camps established during World War II. Here, we take time to reflect on this solemn chapter of history as we walk through the museum and preserved grounds, gaining insight into the resilience of those who endured unimaginable hardship.

Following our visit, we travel south into the heart of the Austrian Alps, where we arrive in the charming alpine village of Kitzbühel, Austria—our home for the next four nights. Known for its stunning mountain scenery and rich Tyrolean traditions, Kitzbühel offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.

This evening, gather with fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner, savoring regional specialties as we toast to the unforgettable journey ahead.

Day 3:  Sept. 19
Salzburg & Sound Of Music

Today, we set off for the enchanting city of Salzburg, famously known as the backdrop for The Sound of Music and the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Nestled along the Salzach River and framed by alpine peaks, Salzburg is one of Austria’s most beautiful and culturally rich destinations.

Upon arrival, we explore the city's charming cobblestone streets, taking in the stunning Baroque architecture, lively squares, and historic landmarks such as Mirabell Gardens, the DomQuartier, and Mozart’s Birthplace. There’s also time to venture up to Hohensalzburg Fortress, a medieval stronghold that offers breathtaking views over the city.

Later, we experience Salzburg’s historic brewing tradition with a visit to one of its renowned breweries. Here, we can soak in the lively atmosphere and get a taste of Austria’s celebrated beer culture.

Day 4:  Sept. 20
Alpine Harvest Festival

Today, we experience one of the Alps' most cherished traditions—the Almabtrieb Festival. This lively celebration marks the homecoming of cows and farmers from the high mountain pastures, a centuries-old event filled with local pride and gratitude for a successful grazing season.

As the festival unfolds, we join village residents in welcoming the beautifully adorned cows, each decorated with elaborate floral headdresses and bells, as they parade through the streets in a joyful display of Alpine heritage. The air is filled with the sounds of traditional music, folk dancing, and the festive spirit of this one-of-a-kind cultural event.

This evening, we continue the celebration with an authentic Tyrolean dinner and show, where we enjoy regional cuisine, lively music, and traditional Alpine entertainment—bringing a perfect end to this unforgettable day.

Day 5:  Sept. 21
Berchtesgaden & Eagles Nest

This morning, we journey into Germany’s Bavarian Alps to the picturesque village of Berchtesgaden, a region renowned for its breathtaking mountain scenery and historical significance. Nestled among soaring peaks, Berchtesgaden is home to some of Germany’s most stunning landscapes and compelling history.

Here, we have the opportunity to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), the infamous mountaintop retreat perched high above the valley. Originally built as a diplomatic meeting house, it now stands as a historical site offering panoramic views of the Alps. We also explore the remnants of Hitler’s mountain retreat, gaining insight into the area's past.

Later, we unwind with a scenic boat cruise on Lake Königssee, often considered Germany’s most beautiful alpine lake. Surrounded by sheer cliffs and crystal-clear waters, this emerald-green lake provides a tranquil and awe-inspiring experience.

By late afternoon, we return to the Austrian Alps, reflecting on a day filled with history, natural beauty, and unforgettable sights.

Day 6:

Innsbruck

This morning, we begin our journey with a visit to the stunning Tratzberg Castle, a Renaissance-era gem nestled in the Austrian Alps. Dating back to the 16th century, this beautifully preserved castle offers a glimpse into Austria’s noble past, with its richly decorated interiors, intricate woodwork, and fascinating history. As we explore its grand halls and panoramic terraces, we step back in time to an era of knights, emperors, and aristocratic splendor.

From here, we continue to Innsbruck, the vibrant capital of Tyrol and a city renowned for its breathtaking alpine setting, historic charm, and Olympic legacy. Upon arrival, a local guide leads us through the Old Town, where we admire its medieval streets, colorful facades, and architectural highlights, including the famous Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl)—a landmark covered in 2,657 shimmering gilded tiles, built for Emperor Maximilian I.

After our guided introduction, we have free time to explore Innsbruck at our own pace. Whether it's wandering through charming cafés, shopping for local crafts, or simply soaking in the stunning mountain views, the city offers plenty to discover.

Later, we cross back into Germany, arriving in Bavaria, where we settle into our accommodations for the next three nights.

Day 7:

Oktoberfest

This morning, we journey to Munich, the vibrant capital of Bavaria, known for its rich history, lively culture, and deep-rooted beer traditions. Upon arrival, we explore the heart of the city, including the iconic Marienplatz, where the famous Glockenspiel delights visitors with its charming mechanical show. We also visit the legendary Hofbräuhaus, Munich’s most famous beer hall, where history and hospitality blend seamlessly in a lively Bavarian atmosphere.

In the afternoon, we immerse ourselves in one of the world’s largest and most famous festivals—Oktoberfest!Experience the festive spirit as we explore the many beer tents (Festzelts), each offering its own unique atmosphere, traditional live music, and hearty Bavarian cuisine. Raise a stein of authentic German beer, savor classic dishes like pretzels and bratwurst, and soak in the lively energy of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

Day 8:

Neuschwanstein Castle

Today, we step into a storybook as we visit Neuschwanstein Castle, the legendary masterpiece of King Ludwig II and the inspiration for Walt Disney’s fairy-tale castles. Perched high on a rugged hilltop, this stunning palace boasts ornate interiors, breathtaking views, and a fascinating history. As we explore its lavish rooms and grand halls, we gain insight into the eccentric king’s dreamlike vision brought to life.  After our castle visit, we travel to the picturesque village of Oberammergau, world-famous for its once-in-a-decade Passion Play and its stunning Lüftlmalerei—intricate frescoes that adorn the town’s traditional Bavarian buildings. These colorful paintings, dating back to the 18th century, depict religious scenes, Bavarian traditions, and fairy tales, giving the town an almost magical charm. One of the most famous frescoes can be found on the local school building, where a beautifully detailed mural tells the tale of Little Red Riding Hood.

This evening, we return to our hotel for a memorable Farewell Dinner, sharing stories and toasting to an incredible journey through Austria and Bavaria.

Day 9:
Aüf Wiedersehen Germany

This morning, we depart for the Munich Airport, bidding auf Wiedersehen to the breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and unforgettable experiences of Austria and Germany. As our journey comes to an end, take time to reflect on the incredible sights and memories made along the way.
