Day 1:

Fly To Italy

Depart the United States for an overnight flight to Europe and the charm of Italy.

Day 2:

Arrive In Rome

Buongiorno & welcome to Italy! A local guide will join us as we are acquainted with Rome during an orienta- tion tour of the city. We will see Roman classics such as the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. Later we check into our centrally located hotel (check in is 3PM). Tonight, mingle with fellow travelers during our Italian Welcome Dinner, hosted by Lee Valsvik.

Day 3:
Rome City Tour - Food Walking Tour

This morning a local Roman guide joins us as we for a tour of the major sites of this historic city. We have spe- cially arranged tickets to see inside the Colosseum before we walk the Roman Forum, which dates back 2000 years. Tonight, we are joined by a local food guide as we discover the Trastevere, one of Rome's more authentic and exciting neighborhoods. As we explore this district, we will stop and sample several dishes of the area and sip some of Rome's local wines. The evening is sure to be a culinary highlight during our time in Italy.

Day 4:

Rome Leisure Day

Enjoy a full leisure day in Rome! Perhaps a visit to St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum's priceless art collection may be of interest. Art enthusiasts may want to see the Baroque styled Borghese Gallery, home to numerous Bernini sculptures and paintings by Raphael, Titian and Caravaggio. Tonight, dine alfresco in front of the Pantheon or on charming Piazza Navona, the choice is yours.

Day 5:
Naples - Pizza Making Class – Sorrento

We depart Rome and head south to Naples and Sorrento. We are joined by a local guide as we discover the historic city of Naples by foot. During our visit we will try our hand where the pizza was born during a pizza making class. Learn from a local chef in the heart of Naples before learning the secrets of the Neapolitan pizza in a typical Napoli restaurant. Later, we continue south near Sorrento before checking into our hotel for the next three nights.

Day 6:

Pompeii Historic Site - Wine & Limoncello Tastings

A local guide takes us through a fascinating journey back to the Roman Empire when Pompeii and the Vesu- vius area were one of the most beautiful resorts in all of Italy before being destroyed by an eruption on Mt. Vesuvius. Our tour includes the highlights of Pompeii; the theatre, thermal baths, Gladiators' Gym, fountains, the Forum and much more. Later this afternoon we will visit a vineyard located on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius. Sample several local vintages before making our way into Sorrento to try their famous limoncello made from local lemons. Tonight we dine at a local restaurant in Sorrento.

Day 7:
Amalfi Coast

This morning, enjoy one of the most stunning coastlines anywhere, the Amalfi Coast by boat. John Steinbeck wrote that the Amalfi Coast "is a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes becomingly real after you have gone." In addition to exploring the villages of Amalfi and Positano we will also experience some of the local foods and wines with an included tasting tour in Amalfi. Late afternoon finds us returning to our hotel in Sorrento. We will explore the Amalfi Coast by boat one way and return by van (depending on sea conditions)

Day 8:
Isle Of Capri

This morning we cross the Gulf of Naples by boat for the island of Capri. Reachable only by boat, the island offers charming villages, stunning ocean views and authentic Italian charm. Capri was the favorite of emperor Augustus where he resided and built numerous temples, villas and gardens as having his own private paradise. Later, we return to the hotel before enjoying a farewell dinner with new friends.

Day 9:

Arrivederci Italy!

We pack our bags and say farewell to Italy as we depart for the airport in Naples. We arrive back home with fond memories of Rome & the Amalfi Coast!
