Day 1: November 4
Fly To Casablanca, Morocco
Depart the United States for an overnight flight to Morocco. Most flights from the U.S. to Morocco are overnight, arriving the following day. Please note that the trip officially begins on November 5 at 4 PM at Le Diwan Hotel in Rabat. If you plan to arrive in Morocco on November 5, you will need to depart the U.S. on November 4 to account for the overnight travel time.
Day 2: November 5
Arrive in Casablanca/Rabat Morocco
Upon arrival in Casablanca (or Rabat), simply land, board your transfer, and head north to Rabat, the starting point of our journey. The scenic drive, just over an hour, takes you past stunning coastal views, charming seaside towns, and rolling fields of wheat and barley. Once in Rabat, we’ll check in and freshen up at Le Diwan, a stylish 4-star hotel in the heart of the city. In the evening, join Holly and Tracy at 7:30 PM for a Welcome Dinner at Villa Mandarine. Nestled in lush gardens, this elegant restaurant blends traditional Moroccan flavors with French culinary artistry—the perfect setting to relax and get to know your fellow travelers while discussing the exciting days ahead (4PM is check in time. - if you arrive early the hotel can store your luggage). If you’d like to arrive a day early, let us know—we’re happy to check hotel pricing for you. Please note that the trip officially begins on November 5th in Rabat.

Arrival and transfer info: Guests will be arriving on different flights from across Europe at various times. To ensure a smooth arrival, Defined Destinations will provide a group shuttle from Casablanca Airport to our hotel in Rabat, departing the Casablanca airport at 5 PM. This transfer is included in the trip cost.
For those arriving earlier and preferring not to wait, or landing after the scheduled departure, we can assist in arranging a private transfer for an additional fee. Our goal is to make your journey as seamless as possible, so you can arrive comfortably and ready to experience Morocco.


Day 3:
Exploring Rabat
-The Capital of Morocco
After enjoying a delightful Moroccan breakfast, we will explore Rabat’s fascinating blend of history and modernity. Our guided tour will take us through the Oudayas Kasbah and Andalusian Gardens, a peaceful retreat with breathtaking ocean views and charming blue-and-white alleyways. We’ll visit the Hassan Tower and Mohammed V Mausoleum, a UNESCO-listed landmark, before passing the Royal Palace and Mechouar, the official residence of Morocco’s king. After an included lunch at a local restaurant, we will depart for Chefchaouen, famously known as The Blue City. The journey takes us through the scenic Rif Mountains, offering breathtaking landscapes as we ascend into this picturesque hilltop town.
Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, we’ll take an orientation walk through the medina, where blue-washed streets, hidden courtyards, and charming squares create a dreamlike setting. We’ll then check in at Taj Chaouen, a stunning boutique hotel that blends traditional Moroccan charm with modern comforts. Overlooking the nearby medina and surrounding mountains, this beautiful property offers panoramic views, elegant decor, and a tranquil atmosphere, making it the perfect retreat in Chefchaouen. The evening is yours to explore at your own pace, with a variety of local restaurants to choose from for dinner.

Day 4:
Chefchaouen-"The Blue City"
After enjoying breakfast at Taj Chaouen, we’ll spend the day fully immersing ourselves in the charm of Chefchaouen, one of Morocco’s most picturesque towns. Our exploration begins in Uta El Hammam Square, the vibrant heart of the medina, where we’ll take in views of the Grand Mosque and the Kasbah, a 15th-century fortress that once served as a key defensive structure. As we stroll through the narrow blue-washed streets, you’ll have time to admire the unique architecture, browse artisan shops filled with locally made textiles and pottery, and capture the beauty of Chefchaouen’s cobalt-colored alleyways—a photographer’s dream.
Midday, we’ll take a break for lunch at your leisure, with plenty of charming cafés and restaurants offering traditional Moroccan dishes and refreshing mint tea. In the afternoon, we’ll make a photo stop at Ras El Maa Waterfall, a scenic spot where mountain water flows through the city, providing a refreshing ambiance and stunning panoramic views of Chefchaouen’s blue skyline set against the surrounding Rif Mountains.
After returning to Taj Chaouen, you’ll have free time to relax, take in the breathtaking views from the hotel’s terraces, or continue exploring the medina at your own pace. In the evening, we’ll gather for dinner at Morisco, a local restaurant known for its warm ambiance and delicious Moroccan cuisine, the perfect way to end our magical day in Chefchaouen.

Day 5:
Morocco's Past - Roman Ruins, Winetasting & Fez
After breakfast at Taj Chaouen, we’ll journey through the scenic Rif Mountains to Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in North Africa. Here, we’ll explore ancient basilicas, triumphal arches, and intricate mosaics that reveal Morocco’s rich Roman history. Next, we’ll visit Moulay Idriss, a sacred hilltop town and an important pilgrimage site, before continuing to Meknes, once the imperial capital of Sultan Moulay Ismail. Known as the "Versailles of Morocco," Meknes is home to the grand Bab Mansour Gate, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, and the historic Jewish Quarter. After lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll visit Château Roslane, one of Morocco’s most renowned wineries, for a wine-tasting experience in its historic cellars. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive in Fez and check in at Hotel Riad Salam, our home for the next two nights. This elegant riad-style hotel offers a blend of modern comfort and traditional Moroccan charm. After settling in, we’ll enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner, preparing for the next day’s discoveries in the cultural heart of Morocco.

Day 6:
Fez-The Cultural Heart of Morocco
After breakfast at Hotel Riad Salam, we will spend the day exploring Fez, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart. This ancient city, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and bustling souks, offers an immersive journey into Moroccan history and tradition. Our guided tour begins with a visit to the Bou Inania Medersa, one of Morocco’s finest theological colleges, followed by the famous tanneries, where leather is dyed using centuries-old techniques. We’ll explore the University of Al Quaraouiyine, the world's oldest continuously operating university, and admire the intricate beauty of the Nejjarine Fountain. Wandering through the souks and bazaars, you’ll experience the sights, sounds, and scents of Fez’s vibrant markets before continuing to Fez Jdid and the iconic Bab Bou Jeloud, the grand gateway to the medina.
After lunch at your leisure, we’ll take part in a Moroccan Zellige tile-making workshop, learning the intricate techniques behind the country’s stunning geometric tilework. Later in the afternoon, we’ll visit the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) before having free time to explore the souks and shop for unique local crafts.
In the evening, we’ll gather for dinner at MB Restaurant, a stylish venue known for its refined take on Moroccan cuisine, before returning to Hotel Riad Salam for a restful night.

Day 7:
Landscapes and a Desert Adventure to Remember
Embark on a scenic journey through the Moroccan countryside. Today we travel through the majestic Middle Atlas Mountains, passing by the picturesque ski resort of Ifrane and the charming town of Azrou. We explore the fortified villages along the Ziz Valley, marveling at their traditional pre-Saharian architecture, and ultimately arrive in Erfoud, a gateway to the Sahara Desert. We’ll learn about traditional Berber culture and prepare for something special. As the sun sets, we’ll embark on a camel ride into the heart of the Sahara Desert, and witness the breathtaking beauty of the sand dunes as they change color with the setting sun. Finally, we’ll enjoy a peaceful evening under the starry sky, surrounded by the tranquility of the desert. We have an amazing feast and spend the night in a luxurious desert tent (talk about glamping!), where you can relax and rest up for the adventure that continues (each tent is equipped with AC and private toilet and shower).

Day 8:
Morocco's Todra Valley
Wake up early for an optional sunrise experience over the breathtaking dunes of Merzouga, where the shifting golden sands create a truly magical start to the day. After enjoying breakfast at the luxury camp, we’ll journey back to Erfoud by 4x4, where we’ll switch vehicles and continue our adventure.
Our first stop is Tinghir, a picturesque town known for its lush palm groves and stunning mountain backdrop. Here, we’ll enjoy lunch at Yasmina, a local restaurant offering delicious regional cuisine. After lunch, we’ll visit the Todra Gorges, a dramatic canyon with towering cliffs that reach heights of nearly 1,000 feet—one of the most awe-inspiring landscapes in North Africa.
We’ll then continue to Ouarzazate, traveling through the Dades Valley and Kalaat M’Gouna, often called the "Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs." This scenic route is dotted with ancient fortresses, traditional Berber villages, and sprawling rose fields.
Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, we’ll check in at our hotel, where you’ll have time to relax before enjoying a delicious dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 9:
Ouarzazate to Marrakech
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll begin the day with a short visit to Ouarzazate, including a photo stop at the historic Kasbah Taourirt. While the kasbah is currently closed, its striking exterior remains a fantastic example of Morocco’s rich architectural heritage.
Next, we’ll journey to Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, the most famous and well-preserved kasbah in Morocco. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has served as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood films, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Wandering through its labyrinth of mud-brick buildings, you’ll get a glimpse of life in an ancient fortified city.
We’ll enjoy lunch at Oasis D’or, a local restaurant offering a taste of traditional Moroccan cuisine, before continuing our journey to Marrakech. The drive takes us through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, a breathtaking mountain road that winds through the High Atlas Mountains at an elevation of 2,212 meters. Along the way, we’ll take in stunning panoramic views of dramatic valleys, terraced farms, and remote Berber villages.
Upon arrival in Marrakech, we’ll check in for a two-night stay at the luxurious Les Jardins de la Koutoubia, a stunning riad-style hotel just steps away from the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square. After settling in, we’ll gather for dinner at an elegant Italian restaurant, offering a delightful culinary contrast to our Moroccan adventure. The rest of the evening is yours to relax and take in the magical atmosphere of Marrakech.

Day 10:
Marrakech - "The Red City"
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set out to explore Marrakech, the vibrant "Red City" and one of Morocco’s most captivating imperial cities. Our guided tour begins with a visit to the iconic Koutoubia Minaret, the largest mosque in Marrakech and a stunning example of Almohad architecture. We’ll then stroll through the serene Menara Gardens, a historic olive grove centered around a picturesque reflecting pool. Next, we’ll step inside the Bahia Palace, an architectural masterpiece adorned with intricate tilework, carved cedar ceilings, and lush courtyards that once housed Morocco’s royal court. In the afternoon, we’ll continue our exploration with a visit to the Majorelle Garden, a lush botanical retreat designed by French artist Jacques Majorelle and later restored by Yves Saint Laurent. The garden’s striking cobalt blue structures, exotic plants, and tranquil fountains make it one of Marrakech’s most beloved landmarks. Adjacent to the gardens, we’ll tour the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, dedicated to the legendary designer’s work, as well as the Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts, showcasing Morocco’s rich indigenous heritage through exquisite textiles, jewelry, and artifacts.
As the day winds down, we’ll experience the energy of Jemaa el-Fnaa, Marrakech’s famous square where snake charmers, storytellers, acrobats, and musicians bring the city to life. You’ll also have time to explore the bustling souks, where you can shop for colorful spices, handcrafted rugs, leather goods, and other treasures.
In the evening, we’ll return to Les Jardins de la Koutoubia for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay, surrounded by the enchanting atmosphere of Marrakech.

Day 11:
Marrakech to Casablanca
After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll dive into an immersive Moroccan cooking experience, where you’ll spend a few hours learning the secrets of traditional cuisine from expert chefs. The session begins with a traditional tea ceremony, an essential part of Moroccan hospitality. Under the guidance of our chefs, you’ll prepare your own authentic Moroccan dish, using aromatic spices and fresh ingredients. The experience culminates with a delicious lunch, where you’ll enjoy the meal you’ve crafted.
In the afternoon, we’ll depart for Casablanca, Morocco’s dynamic economic hub. Our city tour will take us past some of its most iconic landmarks, including a view of the Hassan II Mosque, an architectural masterpiece that extends over the Atlantic Ocean. We’ll also explore Mohammed V Square, the heart of the city, the traditional quarter of Habbous, known for its charming souks and French-Moroccan architecture, and the upscale Anfa residential district. We’ll conclude our tour with a scenic drive along La Corniche, Casablanca’s lively waterfront promenade.
Upon arrival, we’ll check in at the Casablanca Marriott Hotel, a luxurious and modern retreat in the heart of the city. In the evening, we’ll gather for a memorable dinner show at Basman, where you’ll enjoy an exquisite Moroccan feast accompanied by live entertainment. After an incredible evening, we’ll return to the Marriott for a restful night in Casablanca.

Day 11:
Depart Casablanca
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel, taking a moment to reflect on your time in Morocco—the stunning landscapes, rich culture, warm hospitality, and unforgettable experiences. From vibrant markets to historic sites, from the tranquility of the desert to the energy of Marrakech, each moment has contributed to a journey unlike any other.
As you prepare to head to the airport, you might recall the final words of Humphrey Bogart’s character, Rick, in the classic film Casablanca: "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Perhaps, like Rick’s farewell to the city, your time here has sparked a connection—one that will stay with you long after you return home. Most flights depart Casablanca in the morning. Transfers are NOT included but can be arranged by Defined Destinations (the airport is just 30 minutes from the hotel and is roughly $40).
